Hello!

My name is Rashmi G C. I live in Vancouver, Canada. I am trying to lead a sustainable way of life and take the Do-It-Yourself / Do-It-Together approach to everything. I am an EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) informed community connector. I am actively involved in many community building activities and am very passionate about my work. I also host workshops to share my skills and knowledge to help people enhance their skills and be resilient.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I have worked for about 10 years as a Software Programmer while I was in Bangalore, India.

I completed the city of Vancouver's "Community Climate Leader" program in 2021.
I was a Champion for West End, Vancouver in the Green Bloc Neighbourhoods Program (2018). It was a community engagement program dedicated to sustainable behaviour change and building neighbourhood capacity and connection.
I am a Certified Master Recycler. It is Vancouver's "Waste Reduction and Prevention Education Program", empowered by Society Promoting Environmental Conservation(SPEC).

I was one of the Board of Directors
for Gordon Neighbourhood House [Member at Large (2019-2020) and Co-Chair(2020-2021)]. It is a progressive Community Advisory Board that values enthusiasm, cultural diversity, and lived experiences. Gordon Neighbourhood House strives to ensure that the West End of Vancouver is a vibrant and active community, where everyone is empowered to play an active role in civil society.
I was part of the Resident Advisory Committee(2018-2020) in the West End neighbourhood of Vancouver for the Neighbourhood Small Grants(NSG) Program, jointly hosted by Gordon Neighbourhood House and Vancouver Foundation.
I was also one of the Board of Directors(2018-2019) for the "Vancouver Fruit Tree Project"(VFTP), a non-profit society working towards reducing food waste in Vancouver by harvesting extra fruit from backyard fruit trees and sharing it with community groups.
I was elected as one of the Board of Directors (2019) for "Society Promoting Environmental Conservation", the oldest environmental non-profit in Canada. It was a wonderful opportunity to contribute positively to the organisation and the community.
I have separate pages on this website describing some of my projects in detail. I have shared contact information and links to different social media channels there. I look forward to connecting with you through some of my projects.

Thank you! :-)
